Naygaon Mayur Wildlife Sanctuary, Beed


Naygaon mayur and habitat development therein.

Location:
The sanctuary is situated in Beed district in Marathwada Region.

Biodiversity:
The terrain of the forest area is hilly in the central plateau region. The patches of scrub forest, plantation blocks, grassland and blanks are scattered throughout the area. Vegetation include stunted growth of Chinch, Jamun, Sitafal, Tender Neem, Sandalwood, Ficus Species etc. Lantana, Karwand, Bor, Lokhandi etc. dominant in shrub cover. Plantation area has thickness of glyric dia. Kusali grasses have extensive patches.

Flora:

Vegetation includes stunted growth of Chinch, Jamun, Sitafal, Tender Neem, Sandalwood, Ficus Species etc. Lantana, Karwand, Bor, Lokhandi etc. dominant in shrub cover.

Fauna:

Wolf, Fox, Hyena, Porcupine, Palm Civet, Jungle Cat, Pea fowls, Black hair are seen in much larger numbers all over the area.

Best time to visit:  June to October

Nearest Airport:  Aurangabad (155 kms.).

By Rail:  Nearest railhead is Borsi (98 Kms.) 

By Road:  From Beed the sanctuary is 20 kms on Beed-Nagar road.

Accommodations:
Presently facilities for camping is not available with in sanctuary area. However the area is easily approachable from Beed, Paithan, Ahemadnagar, Osmanabad and Aurangabad.
